Michael Moreno
Michael Moreno is Co-CEO of Speedwell Climate. He leads the UK arm of the business and is the chief architect of Speedwell’s pricing and risk management software, leading the strategic direction in all areas of this field. He has been instrumental in growing the business and successfully delivered the market-leading weather derivatives pricing and risk management software. He has published widely and lectured for a number of years at the French actuarial school ISFA in Lyon. Michael Moreno has a PhD in quantitative finance, a Master’s degree in Insurance and Finance and a Masters in Applied Mathematics. Michael has helped assess, model and place many weather derivatives including the biggest ever European weather cross commodity deal.
David Whitehead
Co-CEO
David Whitehead is Co-CEO for Speedwell Climate. He leads the USA arm of the business and is responsible for growing an extensive North American presence for the corporation. David has ensured that the meteorological expertise for the organization is responsive to the growing needs of the business and has spearheaded the Settlement part of the business and marketing strategy. He has led a number of consultancy projects to establish weather stations across the world based on client need. David sits on the Board of Directors of the Weather Risk Management Association advising on association activities and strategy. He has an MSc in Meteorology from Florida University and a BSc from Cornell. Prior to Speedwell he lead a team at MDA Federal.
Stephen Doherty
Founder, Chairman
Stephen Doherty has a first class degree in the Special Engineering Programme from Brunel University. Stephen started his working career in the financial markets and was formerly Head of European Bond trading at IBJ International.
Richard (Mick) Palmer
Founder, COO
After completing a Bachelor’s degree in the Special Engineering Program at Brunel University and a Master’s degree in Advanced Information Technology at Imperial College, Mick was employed in the oil industry before co-founding Speedwell in 1994. He is currently CFO/COO
